The Perfection of You

Do you know that the most powerful thing you can do to heal yourself, your loved ones, and all of humankind is to fall in love with yourself exactly as you are?

Do you know that there is not one thing you have thought, done, felt, or said that does not deserve to come home to your heart?

We are living in an amazing evolutionary opportunity. We are now technologically connected in a way that we never have been before. And we can see conflict in relationships, between political parties, and between countries. This all comes from the kind of mind that is disconnected from the sacredness of everything, especially you!

But if we look closely, we can also see the rising of a new kind of mind. Jesus spoke of it clearly when he said, “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”

I invite you not to just glance at this quote. Really let it in.  If I have not love, I am nothing!

But so much of his message was incorporated into the kind of mind that sees through the lens of good and bad, right and wrong. His message was so warped it went so far as to say if you do life ‘wrong’, you are a sinner and you will go to hell. Not much love there!

But slowly, over the eons, the heart of his message began to penetrate people. You can see this clearly in the 60s when the philosophy of peace and love came out of the drug culture that had cracked so many hearts wide open.

Then in the 80s, “Practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty,” took this world by storm. It then faded into the background only to show up in little pockets everywhere. Fast forward to 2024, and most news programs have some features every day about kindness and caring.

Also, in 1985 72% of adults said relations between adults of the same sex were always or almost always wrong. Today, that figure has dropped to 28%. Slowly we are seeing that we don’t need to judge another person’s journey whether it is their sexual orientation, their religious beliefs, or their political opinions (although we have a ways to go on that one!).

Slowly and surely, we are evolving out of the old kind of mind that has caused so much heartache on this planet. This new kind of mind cares, connects, and sees the sacredness of every particle, every plant, every animal, and every person, including you. You are a sacred expression of life and there is nothing wrong with you. You are a mix of dark and light and you are perfectly imperfect exactly as you are.

As Brian Swimme said, “A way out of this difficulty is the journey into the Universe as sacred. Our way out is activating the sensitivities of the human that respond to the sacred dimension of the Universe. It is a regeneration of the human spirit, enabling it to once again tremble with awe before these naked mysteries. What awaits us is the unfurnished eye, meaning seeing what is before us.”

As you begin to see the sacredness of you, you will begin to see the sacredness of absolutely everything.  You will see what Brian means when he says, “You will see what is before you.” You will recognize the miracle of life absolutely everywhere. And then, you will become a part of the miraculous healing that is happening on this planet.
