The Power of Kindness

When we are caught in our compulsions, we turn away from ourselves by judging ourselves and by trying to get rid of our compulsion which is not kindness.

Kindness is the act of turning toward ourselves.  Kindness is not fighting with a compulsion, but understanding that it is there for a reason.  When we are in reaction to what’s going on in our lives, it takes care of parts of ourselves we don’t know how to take care of.  When we are conscious, it becomes our guide, showing us the way back to our heart.

It is kindness to recognize, or at least ask, what we are experiencing.  And it is kindness to learn the skills of truly listening to our experience and touching it with our hearts.
