Telling Ourselves the Truth

There is a wonderful healing in telling ourselves the truth of our experience. It works like a lens.

Sometimes we are so caught in struggle that we don’t have a clue about what our immediate experience is. We can then tell ourselves the truth simply by noticing where we are physically like I did the night after the burglary. “I am just lying in my bed.” And then, if we can, we tighten the lens a bit and speak the truth “I am caught in struggle.”

The more we practice these two basic truths, the easier it becomes to bring the lens of our attention right into our exact experience, noticing what is going on in our bodies, our minds or our hearts.

Remember, when we can truly be with our experience without needing it to be any different than what it is, whatever we are struggling with ceases to have power over us.
