Life is Amazing

I came across one of my all-time favorite quotes yesterday, written by L. R. Knost and it felt like reconnecting with a dear friend. I feel the truth of this quote so deeply I decided, rather than posting it on social media, I would make it the heart and center of a blog:

“Life is amazing. And then it’s awful. And then it’s amazing again. And in between the amazing and awful, it’s ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living a heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.”

I invite you to read this very slowly a number of times for you will see your life in it. I also invite you to post it around your living space to remind you that we are all in this together, riding the wild and wonderful roller coaster of life.

The only change I would make is rather than holding on during the ‘awful’ times, I invite you to become curious, for your challenges come not because you have done something wrong, or ‘they’ have done something wrong, or God fell asleep on the job. They come because they are tailor-made to help you grow into the fullness of who you really are.

  1. Thank you Mary. Your words went directly to my heart and soul. I am going through some life changes right now and you have definitely made me “calm down and trust God”
    You are truly heaven sent.

  2. Bless you, Mary, for this wonderful quote with a wonderful beginning and wonderful ending! There is much hope and faith in these words! Why resist what is a perfect blessing for me and for you?

“They come because they are tailor-made to help you grow into the fullness of who you really are.”

Amen, Mahalo, and Godspeed to you always, Sky Ann!

  3. Thank you, Mary. This is such a wonderful reminder. I live near a beautiful creek. It has areas of smooth water then rough and choppy with big drops. I think life can be like this. Going with the flow and allowing space for both. Hope this makes sense.💜🙏🏻

    1. That’s a lovely example! Yes, that’s exactly it. Go with the flow of the river. Be light!

  4. The quote is beautiful and well worth thinking through. If considered an assignment, it is not an easy one, but it is doable, and with determination and practice, maybe even achievable.
    It makes great sense.

    1. It’s an assignment if you choose it to be. It’s certainly a recommendation. I’m glad it makes sense. Be patient and be light!
